BLUE INNOVATION FOR THE RED SEA

The Integrated Ocean Processes (IOP) laboratory is an interdisciplinary, multi-national team of scientists forging novel approaches to
biophysical research of the Red Sea.

OCEAN OBSERVATIONS

The Integrated Ocean Processes Lab has created an ocean observatory to understand the overall functioning of the Red Sea. From underwater seagliders, to surface current mapping, floats, shipboard observations, and in-situ measurements of ocean parameters, the mysteries of the Red Sea are being revealed.

A LIVING LABORATORY

As one of the warmest, saltiest and smallest of the sub-tropical seas, the Red Sea offers the potential for insights into a warming world. Perhaps surprisingly, the functioning of the Red Sea remains relatively unknown and the race is on to establish a baseline of existing biogeophysical conditions. The Red Sea, is an optimal laboratory for studying and applying discoveries to the changes that will be experienced with global change. This living laboratory is a window to the future.
