Biography

Initially a physicist, with a PhD in complex systems and computational physics, Alkiviadis’ interests shifted to the study of the Ocean, after he had the chance to participate in an oceanographic cruise, in the late 00’s. Since then he worked in 4 different institutions, in 3 countries, studying the physical properties of the ocean.

Research Interests

Alkiviadis’ research interests focus on the physical properties of the Ocean, and include Operational Oceanography and Observational Oceanography. He has worked with multiparametric observational platforms, including HF-Radars, gliders, buoys and drifters to monitor variables such as currents, waves, temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen and Chl-a. He also participates in oceanographic cruises, field measurements, sampling and instrument deployments.
