Biography

Andreea started her Ph.D. in August 2020.

The aim of her research is to determine how cutting-edge drone remote sensing can be used for research purposes in coastal ecosystems.

To find that out, she correlates monthly drone surveys with in situ biogeochemical analysis of coastal waters. Further on, the spectral characteristics of vegetation are correlated with water properties. Drone imagery contains additional valuable information about coastal fauna, which can give information about ecosystem health. Andreea's project has the potential to be a source of insights for researchers across disciplines.

Research Interests

Remote sensing using commercial drones - my project aims to contribute to sustainable and regenerative development of the Red Sea coast by deploying drones to monitor mangroves, seagrasses, and coral reef habitats.
